Although I loved the Jeanie Deans there was nothing more  majestic than watching
one of the Duchesses glide past.
We used to go every summer to Millport on holiday, and every day around 11am my dad and I would cycle round to Keppel Pier and watch the morning Duchess arrive. It
all seems so long ago, but is one of the strongest memories of my childhood. If ever there was a ‘favourite place’ in my life, that would be it.
